Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is mainly used for commercial engraving applications. This metal is silver in color & many folks think that it will not stain. However the name tells the story, it is stainless not stain none. The alloys of material that are most common are 304, 316 & 430. The 304 stainless is the most common and is used in kitchen equipment, gas pumps, tanks…..etc. The 430 stainless is a cheaper soft version & is used in decorative applications like nameplates & auto bumpers. In addition, the 430 series of stainless is magnetic. The 316 is the hardest of all and has the best corrosive resistance. All stainless steel products can be marked black with Cermark or Thermark products using a CO2 laser. These products give you the ability to add a permanent black marking on steel.
